Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine how married adult attachment can improve marital satisfaction in marital relationships. Methods A double mediation model was verified to find out whether self-compassion and emotional dysregulation sequentially double-mediated in the relationship between adult attachment and marriage satisfaction. For this study, a questionnaire was conducted for 367 married people, and the collected data were analyzed. Results Results of the study are as follows. First, simple mediation of self-compassion was not significant in the relationship between adult attachment and marriage satisfaction. Second, simple mediation of emotional dysregulation was significant. Third, sequential double mediation of self-compassion and emotional dysregulationwas significant. Conclusions This study is meaningful in that it revealed that self-compassion and emotional dysregulation can enhance marital satisfaction in the process of adult attachment affecting marital satisfaction.
