Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a vertical evacuation mechanism that enables disabled persons using wheelchairs to escape from the disaster site while in a wheelchair when they need emergency evacuation. Since the elevator cannot be used at the disaster site due to a power outage, a non-motorized vertical evacuation mechanism is required. This research and development product is a vertical evacuation mechanism in which a user in an electric wheelchair with a weight of 150 kg or more descends one floor at a time by connecting an elevator carrier to two pillars. Since the weight of wheelchair users is different, it was developed to operate at the speed of ascent and descent in the range of 40~130 cm/sec depending on the user
