Abstract

AChE 억제제는 알츠하이머 질환 치료에 이용될 수 있으므로, 본 연구는 더위지기 정유로부터 AChE 활성성분을 탐색하기 위하여 수행한 것이다. 더위지기로부터 얻은 정유를 GC-MS로 분석했을 때 camphor가 29.8%, borneol이 28.0%, eucalyptol이 5.81%, coumarin이 5.49%의 피크 면적 비율을 보였다. 이 중 camphor, borneol, coumarin을 사용하여 Anti-AChE 활성 검색을 수행하였다. 그 결과, <TEX>$0.298mg/m{\ell}$</TEX>, coumarin은 <TEX>$0.236mg/m{\ell}$</TEX>의 <TEX>$IC_{50}$</TEX> 값을 나타내었다. 이러한 결과는 coumarin이 anti-AChE 활성을 나타내는 활성물질임을 나타내는 것이다. Since the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor is used to treat Alzheimer's disease, the present study aimed to analyze the component with anti-AChE activity from the essential oil of Artemisia iwayomogi (Compositae). The four major components of the essential oil were identified to be camphor (29.8%), borneol (28.0%), eucalyptol (5.81%) and coumarin (5.49%) from a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The essential oil and its three components, camphor, borneol, and coumarin, were subjected to anti-AChE assay. The <TEX>$IC_{50}$</TEX> values of the essential oil and coumarin were shown to be <TEX>$0.298mg/m{\ell}$</TEX> and <TEX>$0.236mg/m{\ell}$</TEX>, though those of other two components, camphor and borneol, were more than <TEX>$0.250mg/m{\ell}$</TEX>. These results suggest that coumarin is an active substance of this essential oil with anti-AChE activity.
