Abstract

The evolution of gravimetric research in Kazakhstan is traced from the 1920s to the present day. This review highlights the progression from initial measurements using variometers to modern complex gravimetric surveys employing absolute and relative equipment. Advancements in accuracy, depth, and breadth of data are emphasized. The current state and prospects of the mentioned research in Kazakhstan are also discussed, including the development of standardized gravity networks and plans for a new national reference frame. This comprehensive overview provides valuable insights into the history and status of gravimetric research in Kazakhstan, underscoring its significance for geosciences and environmental management in the region
