Abstract

A literature review on the approaches to internal auditory canal (IAC) was presented in the article. The most used approaches to the IAC were analyzed in detail (middle cranial fossa, transcanal infrapromontorial, transcanal transpromontorial, translabyrinthine, translabyrinthine with transcochlear extension, retrolabyrinthine, retrosigmoid approaches). All approaches were divided into groups depending on the angle of surgical corridor and opportunity of hearing preservation. The features of closing the IAC lumen, cerebrospinal fluid leak stoppage, and possible options for the surgery ending are described.
