Abstract

The purpose of this study was to derive educational activities from pastoral activities in the community for the realization of human dignity of Father McGlinchey and to reveal the educational meaning. His educational activities were an independent life improvement process aimed at realizing human dignity. He organized 4H as a CoP(Community of Practice) for this process. and he allowed local residents to participate in the programs and projects he had planned, and to implement them independently. He also established specialized educational institutions in the course of practice to conduct technical training. Above all, he put much effort into creating an educational environment that connects and supports human and material resources so that educational activities can take place in various areas of life. The characteristics of Father McGlinchey s community education activities are‘Creation of opportunities for participation and practice for self-improvement of life’,‘Comprehensive development through community education activities’,‘System establishment for educational support’,‘Changes in educational form’,‘three-dimensional lifelong learning of life’. Finally, the researcher suggested that this study has the following important implications. Father McGlinchey s community education activities are examples of the comprehensive development of a sustainable community. It is an example of the life education as human growth in the community. It is also the realization of ‘lifelong care education’that takes care of marginalized subjects in various fields. It is a ‘Pursuit of growth as an independent citizen’.
