Abstract
The article deals with the issues of innovative development of the Russian economy in the regional aspect. On the basis of statistical data on certain aspects of innovative activity, the existing disproportions in the innovative development of individual subjects of the Federation were studied, leading and lagging subjects of the Federation were identified. The reasons for the existing differentiation of regions in terms of the level of innovative development are determined.
