Abstract

Challenges and contradictions of the master’s status in production are shown based on author’s sociological research and synthesis of expert assessment. The status of the master nowadays is marginal in many enterprises: the number and content of duties does not correspond to the rights that are written in the job instruction. Frequently the master has to perform additional duties. This creates problems in the work of masters, the team and often in the whole production process. The necessity and examples of continuous search for the most expedient ratio of rights and duties on the three steps of the managerial ladder is demonstrated.
