Abstract

The purpose of this work is to identify and describe such polycategorical complexes as taxis semantic complexes. The material of the study was statements with taxis prepositions obtained by directed sampling from the Leipzig National Corpus, the National Corpus of the Russian Language and the German Electronic Dictionary. The study was conducted on the material of four languages — German, English, Dutch and Russian. As a result of the study, various primary-taxis and secondary-taxis semantic complexes and sub-complexes of simultaneity and non-simultaneity, united by the common semantic function of taxis, are considered. It was found that they actualize various taxis categorial situations of simultaneity and non-temporality — quantitative-taxis, iterative-taxis, temporal-taxis, conditional-taxis, causaltaxis, concessive-taxis, etc. In primary-taxis semantic subcomplexes, primary-taxis categorical situations of simultaneity and diversity of time, associated with various temporal, quantitative and iterative elements. In second-taxis subcomplexes, secondary-taxis categorial situations of simultaneity are realized, combined with various adverbial meanings — instrumental, medial, conditional, concessive, consecutive, final, causal, etc.
