Abstract

This literature review aims to analyze the efficacy of different variants of lithotripsy as a main surgical method for the management of urolithiasis. We have conducted a large-scale search of both Russian and foreign publications and clarified the main parameters used to determine treatment efficacy. We have provided a rationale for the implementation of some integral parameter that will encompass no only the effectiveness of calculi fragmentation (number of procedures/operations, structure and size of calculi, complications, etc.), but also patients' quality of life after lithotripsy and the financial component of inpatient treatment.
