Abstract
The article is devoted to the foundations of the idea of power in the system of culture. The main stages and sources of transformation of ideas about optimal variants of the organization of political power corresponding to the transformation of culture in the course of its evolution are revealed. The idea of people’s power is considered as the basic political ideal of modern culture.
