Abstract

Jo Hee-Ryong is active in the painting altar of Choson late period, who has a profound accomplishment in poetry, calligraphy and painting. His painting talent has been highly praised by Hyun Jong. And his unique understanding of painting is mainly reflected in the interpretation of plum, orchid and bamboo. The number of plum blossoms created by Jo Hee-Ryong is the most in Choson art scene. If mention about the size of the plum blossom frame, from the composition of the plum screen to the creation of plum blossoms, Jo Hee-Ryong’s plum blossoms are full of vitality; as well as on the portrayal of the appearance of plum blossoms, whether it is the depiction of the curved plum blossom branches or the preference for red plums, it was of epoch-making significance in the late Han Dynasty paintings. In the depiction of orchid and bamboo, Jo Hee-Ryong mainly used the method of “Start painting by writing” ”Calligraphy Drawing ” to describe orchid and bamboo.
