Abstract

INTRODUCTION: A special group, fundamentally different from mortality in other age categories, is represented by reproductive losses as the most important component of the demographic potential of the population. AIM: To analyze the dynamics of the level and structure of early reproductive losses in the Ryazan region. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Statistical data on early reproductive losses in the Ryazan Region (RR) for the period 2017–2021 were studied in comparison with the Central Federal District (CFD) and the Russian Federation (RF) as a whole. RESULTS: During the studied period in the RR, there was a stable negative dynamics of fertility, mortality and natural growth. Against the background of a constant decrease in the absolute number of births, a significant decrease in the number of abortions (both spontaneous and medical) was noted, which is a significant reserve for increasing the birth rate. The vast majority (on average 89.6% for the analyzed period) of cases of pregnancy termination in women in the RR are registered up to 12 weeks. The share of terminations of pregnancy in terms of 12–21 weeks inclusive accounted for 10.4%. In the structure of all pregnancy terminations, one third were abnormal products of conception, one tenth — ectopic pregnancy. Under the conditions of natural population decline the problem of preserving the reproductive potential of the population, including the reduction of early reproductive losses, is one of the most important and requires a thorough scientific analysis and the search for new approaches to solving. CONCLUSION: The results of the study of the level and structure of early reproductive losses should be used to make decisions on optimizing obstetric and gynecological care in the region.
