Abstract

The paper analyses the concept of “harmonic personality”, its established and controversial features. It outlines the structure and origins of this psychological phenomenon as they were described by L.I. Bozhovich. Also, the paper reviews the functions of the inner intellectual plan as the basic mechanism for overcoming the motivational conflict that leads to disharmonious personality. It is argued that the inner intellectual plan in adolescents varies in content and verbal expression depending on the ways of dealing with such conflict. The paper provides empirical data supporting this assumption.
