Abstract

This study was performed by myself in order to verify the relationship between basic psychological needs satisfaction, sport participation motivation and participation continuance intention among participants in leisure sport. Participants were 480 in leisure sport(mean age=38.40, SD=9.73). Participants completed questionnaires that included measures of basic psychological needs(autonomy, competence, relatedness) satisfaction, participation motivation, and persistence intention. An according to the results of the research, it was true that the relationship model between psychological need satisfaction and participation motivation and participation continuance intention was suitable one. Results showed that the autonomy, competence, relatedness were positively associated with intrinsic motivation, competence and relatedness were positively associated with extrinsic motivation, and autonomy and competence were negatively associated with amotivation, but relatedness were positively associated with amotivation. And autonomy were positively associated with the persistence intention. Or intrinsic motivation were positively associated with the persistence intention.
