Abstract

The current paper aims to provide a primer on the application of inductive qualitative research method for researchers in the fields of organizational behavior and human resource management. With this goal in mind, I introduce the definition and characteristics of the inductive qualitative research method, and to better understanding of this method, I discuss common misconceptions about qualitative research. Further, I describe each step of the entire procedures of conducting inductive qualitative research and explain key points to consider in each step. I also discuss how to write academic research papers apt for presenting qualitative research by explaining basic components of those papers and providing example writings from the existing literature. I hope that this paper provides easily accessible and practical guidelines on how to conduct inductive qualitative research and promotes applications of the inductive qualitative research methods in management research.
