Abstract

The article presents contemporary written and oral stories about Christmas and carol rituals of the Brest region, which can be qualified as a hypertext of a common semantic field (the status of the folklore genre is not recognized yet for its prose components). They reveal the social meaning of spiritual (religious, philosophical, aesthetic) aspects of the holiday in the development of society and the communicative and pragmatic potential of verbal and nonverbal forms of ritualized interaction in particular communities.
