Abstract

The common type of democracy that was accepted by the humans is a direct and representative model. These two types of the democracy are traditionally related to each other and refreshed each other as well. In view of the democratic changes of Mongolia, the relations of the above mentioned two types were lost at that time and the representative democracy was deemed as proper rather than the direct democracy. However, a possibility for the representative democracy was not fully used and a creation of any conditions for political involvement of citizens to realize such possibility was failed. Consequently, efficient and advantageous sides of either direct or representative democracies were unclear and their potential forms were not used and the political participation of citizens has beenreduced. Therefore, the Department of Political Studies of the Institute of Philosophy of Mongolian Academy of Sciences is implementing the base survey project called as“Representative Democracy and Citizens Political Participation of Mongolia” and has been conducting a questionnaire among experts and investigating such questionnaire as integrated. Based on this questionnaire, Battseren U., a research worker intends to study the political and legal issues and related challenges that are impacting on political participation of citizens and Khulan T., a research worker some issues regarding the social and economic factors respectively.
