Relevance: in the context of increasing life expectancy and the economic situation in the country and the world, the problem of moderating the correlation between personal and subjective qualities of people of pre-retirement age is becoming increasingly relevant. The purpose of the study is to identify the significance of social and demographic characteristics and self-assessment of the family financial situation which act out as moderators of the correlation between personal characteristics and economic and psychological maturity of pre-retirees. Hypotheses: (1) self-efficacy, resilience, self-control, and personal financial anxiety have different correlation with the indicators of economic and psychological maturity of the respondents; mediation of self-efficacy and resilience will be more pronounced than the influence of self-control and anxiety; (2) self-assessment of the family financial situation will influence this correlation to a greater extent than gender and employment. Participants: 388 people aged 45 to 65 (M = 51.03 ± 3.96; 193 males, 195 females), including 54.9% of the employed respondents. All the respondents live in Russia. Methods (tools): to measure the signs of economic and psychological maturity the Attitudes Towards Economic Activity Questionnaire (by T. V. Drobysheva) was used; the Economic Tolerance Towards Others Scale (by T. V. Drobysheva), the Scale of Financial Autonomy of the Individual (by T. V. Drobysheva, S. V. Tarasov, I. V. Larionov), the Responsibility for Economic Well-being Scale (by T. V. Drobysheva) were used; in order to measure personal and economic-psychological characteristics, the Scale of Financial Anxiety of the Person (by T. V. Drobysheva) was used; a short version of the Resilience Test (by N. Osin), the General Self-Efficacy Scale (by R. Schwarzer, M. Jerusalem, adaptation by V. G . Romek), the Brief Self-Control Scale (by J. Tangney, R Baumeister, and A. L. Boone, adapted by T. O. Gordeeva and co-authors) were also used. Results: it was revealed that self-efficacy occupies a central place in the system of personal predictors of the economic and psychological maturity of pre-retirees; the predictive capabilities of resilience and personal financial anxiety are expressed to a lesser extent. The influence of self-control on the indicators of economic and psychological maturity of the respondents is revealed only through the interaction of the moderators. Main conclusions: it is shown that self-efficacy, resilience, and financial anxiety determine the manifestation level of the indicators of the economic and psychological maturity of pre–retirees including such indicators as economic responsibility, activity, tolerance, and financial autonomy. At the same time, the correlation between such two moderators as gender and self-assessment of the family financial situation reduces the influence of self-efficacy and enhances the influence of the resilience and personal financial anxiety on the manifestation level of the indicators of the maturity under study. Practical significance: the results obtained can be used in the development of training programs for retirement planning and psychological support for pre-retirees in conditions of modern economic development of society.

Low self-control is theorized to be a key correlate of delinquency. Using a nonadjudicated sample (N = 1057) from Hong Kong and Macau, the influence of self-control on self-reported violent and nonviolent delinquencies was investigated using Grasmick’s self-control scale. The influences of demographics and self-control on delinquency were also examined. Findings indicate that these adolescents are more likely to engage in overall delinquency, particularly violence, if they are older and if they are less educated. Age is the only demographic predictor of nonviolent delinquency. Risk-seeking behaviors and self-centeredness have significant influences on both violent and nonviolent delinquencies, while low frustration tolerance and preference for cognitive activities are only associated with an increased level of violent misconduct. These findings highlight the overall significant influence of self-control on adolescent delinquency in Chinese adolescents. Suggestions are offered to enhance adolescents’ self-control as a way to reduce their tendency to involvement in delinquent activities.

This research aims to examine the influence of financial knowledge, self-control, and financial anxiety on financial attitude. In contrast to previous research which often positions financial attitude as an independent variable, in this research financial attitude is the dependent variable. The urgency of this research is to find out what aspects influence financial attitudes during the Covid-19 pandemic. We used survey methods via questionnaires in collecting and structural equation methods in data analysis. Respondents in this research were 623 active students from 18 universities. This research found that pro-growth mental accounting and financial self-efficacy simultaneously influence financial behavior, but no influence was found on self-control on financial anxiety.

The study of the experience of job loss by specialists of preretirement age in connection with their financial anxiety as a personal factor, as well as with self-assessment of the financial situation and subjective financial well-being is presented in the article. Approaches to the study of financial anxiety as a reactive state and financial anxiety as a personal property are analyzed. It is noted that specialists of preretirement age are subject to noticeable discrimination by employers and experience problems with employment and education. The results of a study of unemployed people of pre-retirement age (N=153) using the “Scale of Personal Financial Anxiety” methods, the Job Loss Situation Perception Questionnaire, the “Social Axioms”, “Value Orientations”, questionnaires for self-assessment of the financial situation and subjective financial wellbeing are presented. Four empirical types of the unemployed are identified, and the features of their perception of the situation of job loss, selfassessment of financial well-being and satisfaction with it are described. Significant differences were found in the level of financial anxiety, self-assessment of financial well-being and satisfaction with it among representatives of different types. It is noted that financial anxiety, being a personality trait, is apparently a significant factor in the perception of a situation of lack of work and determines the general emotional state of the individual, cognitive elaboration of the prevailing life circumstances, as well as behavior strategies in this situation. The possible social consequences of the emotional problems of the unemployed are shown, and the prospects for further research are outlined.

Open access publication In Russian (Abstract and References in English) The article presents the results of a study of clinical and psychological factors of mental and emotional states among women (N=127) with the extracorporal fertilization (IVF) treatment. There are analyzed data from clinical interviews (type of infertility (female, male), cause of infertility, the planning time of pregnancy, number of attempts and the kind of IVF experiences of relationships in the parent family and with husband, self-relationship and health) and socio-demographic indicators (nature of work, type of marriage and number of marriages, the availability and scheduling of children). There are analyzed the relationship of these indicators with personal and situational anxiety. In the group among women with a female infertility a personal and situational anxiety were higher. Personal anxiety is higher among women with negative mental states (apathy, depression, emotional fatigue, high anxiety, and sleep disturbance, obsessive thoughts about pregnancy, fears, panic attacks), than among women with somatic problems (physical fatigue, lack of sexual desire, hormonal imbalance, endocrine disorders, vascular dystonia, cystitis, eye problems, problems with the musculoskeletal system). There is a need in further research to clarify causal relationships between personal characteristics and negative mental states, and other risk factors, such as problems in the relationship. Personal anxiety is higher among women who indicated relationship problems with their husbands. More severe anxiety among women with children (their own, husband’s) can indicate the complexity of personal experiences and the system of motives of pregnancy that requires a differentiated approach in the psychological support to this category of women with the treatment on the IVF program. The obtained data testify that the characteristics and dynamics of the mental states among women in the program of IVF treatment can be associated with the causes of infertility; negative experience of relationships in the parent family, especially the authoritarian and emotionally cold relationship with the mother; the personal qualities among women, the nature of the dominant reproductive motives, which in turn are connected with the peculiarities of the social situation (marriage, children); the time of pregnancy planning, which may be due to the type (female, male) reproductive health problems and the number of IVF attempts. The identification of the relationships and interdependency of these factors, the nature of their impact on the treatment process, the course and outcome of pregnancy in cases of external reproductive technologies need further study in longitudinal and comparative studies on larger samples of respondents. The obtained data allow: to carry out early diagnostics of social and psychological factors that impede the process of infertility treatment methods of assisted reproduction; to carry out psychological prevention of the formation of negative mental states and targeted psychological assistance in medical treatment with the IVF program.

This article discusses the impact of psychological traits and personal maturity on family stability. The family, being the most significant institution in society, is where a person’s identity is formed and developed. The influence of the family on the development of personal identity is immense, especially in the context of communication dynamics and parenting styles, which shape individual behavior, emotional health, and psychological well-being. These, in turn, are crucial factors for forming a stable and strong family. Family stability is greatly influenced by the social environment, economic factors, and the cultural characteristics of society. A key role in building harmonious and stable family relationships is played by personal maturity, which is a lifelong, ongoing process of self-development. One component of personal maturity is considered to be a person's ability to form and live within a family. Many psychologists argue that family stability, as a problem, depends on the ability to overcome cohabitation challenges, and in this context, the issue of individual maturity is often overlooked. There arises a need to determine how personal maturity and family relationships are interconnected and what patterns they follow. A study was conducted on the psychological maturity and personal traits of individuals who have been married for a long time and those who are divorced. This research made it possible to identify key components of personal maturity that affect family stability. The article also addresses the development of criteria for personal maturity across various scientific and psychological approaches. It presents several theoretical perspectives on family and personal maturity and offers a comparative analysis of contemporary approaches. The study reveals that married individuals demonstrate a higher level of goal orientation, characterized by a stable, conscious, and consistent pursuit of desired outcomes. Goal orientation encompasses the ability to set objectives, plan their achievement, and overcome both internal and external obstacles. This trait is closely linked to the perception of life’s meaning and reflects an individual’s psychological maturity. Additionally, the research identifies lower levels of self-awareness among divorced participants. Since self-awareness—formed through reflection on one’s behavior and experiences—is a key indicator of personal maturity, its development may play a crucial role in maintaining family stability. Overall, the findings suggest that traits associated with personal maturity significantly influence the sustainability of marital relationships and can be further developed. These results open avenues for future research into the psychological factors that contribute to the preservation or dissolution of family bonds. The observed trends resulting from the study may indicate the presence of certain personal characteristics that can influence the stability of marital relationships. The research will contribute to the formation of approaches aimed at developing personal factors that support family stability.
