Abstract
Society as a whole, and the education system in particular, faces the diffi cult task of strengthening, reformatting patriotic education, and searching for new approaches. To understand how “reach out” to young people in this diffi cult process, it is important, among other things, take into account their opinion. Therefore, the purpose of study was analyze the ideas and assessments of students of the Kuzbass vocational education system regarding patriotism and patriotic education. Its results showed that students have a very positive attitude towards their homeland, that patriotism for them is, fi rst of all, respect for nature and resources of the country, love and respect for the homeland, pride in achievements in various fi elds of activity, love for the small homeland, law-abiding. The integral indicator — the level of patriotism — was 4.22 scores on a fi ve-point scale. But on average, students consider only half of the country’s youth to be real patriots and support the idea of paying more attention to patriotic education. Among the more effective patriotic events, students include meetings with veterans and participants of military operations, patriotic fi lms, and actions in an active form.
