Abstract

The article analyses the results of the West Siberian scientists’ field researches on the Kazakh population of the Altai Territory. The authors mention the researchers who focused on studying the Kazakhs’ history and culture during ethnographic expeditions to the Altai Territory in the 1990-2010s. The researchers conclude that the collection of ethnographic material was carried out only in mono-ethnic settlements of certain districts of the region. Many problems remain insufficiently studied. In particular, further studies are required to identify the influence of other cultures on the Kazakh one. The problem of collecting ethnographic material is also relevant.
