Abstract

The research objectives are as follows: to reveal peculiarities of the modern Russian discourse on death, to analyse trans-humanistic conceptions of death in the context of social philosophy. The theme of death is interpreted in the light of the immortalism doctrine implemented in modern Russia, the problems the Russian thanatologists come across are considered through the lens of social philosophy, which constitutes scientific originality of the study. The research findings are as follows: the author analyses causes and consequences of thanatophobia in the modern Russian society, suggests ways to overcome it (conception of digital immortality, cryonics), makes proposals on detabooing the subject of death in Russia.
