Abstract

The article is devoted to the use of foreign language e-learning technology at a university and the description of its didactic potential. The author substantiates the relevance of the introduction of e-learning in the system of higher education. The article reveals the essence of the concept of «e-learning». The features of e-learning that distinguish it from other types of learning are considered in the article. The article provides a classification of e-learning systems. The author proves that the use of e-learning in higher education depends on a number of external and internal factors, and it can be implemented using various methods. Special attention is paid to the advantages of using e-learning in the educational process in higher educational institutions in general and in teaching of foreign languages in particular. The article presents the description of the virtual learning environment Moodle used by the author in the educational process.
