Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the socio-professional status of employees of the penitentiary system in the modern period, in the conditions of ongoing reform. The article proposes the concept of the socio-professional status of an employee of the UIS, determines its greater terminological validity in comparison with the concept of the social status of an employee. Based on the assessment of the current state of the elements — constructs of the socio-professional status of the employees of the UIS, the need for its comprehensive reform is justified.
