Abstract

The paper aims to reveal specificity of vertical elements interaction in polyphonic texture (in broad understanding of the term), which is determined by its ensemble features. The authors examine prototypes of three basic types of textures: homophonic-harmonic, linear polyphonic, multi-timbral polyphonic. It is shown that their dynamic hierarchy is arranged according to the “stereo-effect” principle, whereas temporal hierarchy is specific. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that polyphonic textures are for the first time considered taking into account their ensemble prototypes and specificity of partners’ interaction. The research findings are as follows: the authors reveal specificity of temporal arrangement of polyphonic textures, which is important from the viewpoint of performance.
