Abstract

We examined 26 children aged 4 to 14 years with multiple organ failure syndrome (MODS). The mainorgan systems involved in MODS were the respiratory, cardiovascular, and central nervous systems.Acute respiratory failure in combination with acute heart failure of the 2nd degree was observed in all26 (100%) children, respiratory, cardiovascular failure in combination with cerebral insufficiency in19 (73%) children, respiratory, cardiovascular failure in combination with toxic damage to the liver,kidneys and intestinal failure syndrome in 7 (27%) cases. The main criteria for respiratory failure are asignificant increase in respiratory rate and a decrease in saturation.
