Abstract

The processes of channel contraction of a high-current vacuum-arc discharge and plasma formation in the anode region are of high actuality in terms of improving the switching characteristics of vacuum circuit breakers. In present paper the spatial-spectral structure of the discharge and its dynamics were studied with the videospectroscopic apparatus complex. The obtained data clearly show changes in the charge composition of the anode and cathode macrospots plasma in the process of changing discharge forms.
