Abstract
On the example of the analysis of the creativity of representatives of the Kazan theistic school, the presence of an empirical model of metaphysics of knowledge in spiritual and academic science as an alternative to Orthodox religious and philosophical rationalism was revealed. The tradition of interpreting the role of religious feeling in the process of knowledge among teachers of the Kazan Theological Academy is outlined. The role of British empiricism as one of the sources of the empirical version of Orthodox philosophical epistemology has been identified
