Abstract

The article considers the linguistic identity of Hélène Carrère d`Encausse, an academician and the permanent French Academy Secretary. Modern patterns of academic speech are regarded as exemplified by speeches made during high-profile social status events of a certain status. The findings reveal such genres of academic verbal practices as the introductory solemn speech, acknowledgments, the commemorative solemn speech.
