Abstract

The article discusses the piano cycle «Twelve etudes-impressions», also called «America is my love», created by N. N. Sidelnikov in 1990. The program names of the etudes, set out, like the Preludes of K. Debussy, a postscript (at the end of each play), according to the author, reflect a living life colored by the perception of a new unusual world, as well as an explosion of nostalgic feelings when meeting a close friend. The originality of the piano technique of composition is noted, largely predetermined by innovative compositional decisions: dizzying virtuosity, originality of piano techniques are designed for great performing capabilities of the performer. The composition is interpreted in the context of the great traditions of piano art: F. Liszt — first of all, his transcendental etudes, etudes by F. Chopin and S. V. Rachmaninov. The «score» orchestral texture, color, piano playing, impressionistic sound recording are the most important signs of the style of the outstanding Russian artist of the second half of the XX century.
