Abstract

The purpose of the current study was to investigate the relationship between body composition, body shape satisfaction and life habits among dance-major(n=59) and general major(n=46) of female college students. 105 female students were recruited, body mass index(BMI), percent body fat, abdominal obesity, visceral fat, muscle mass and basal metabolism were assessed. The questionnaire was employed to assess life habits including body shape satisfaction, physical activity, eating, drinking, smoking habits. Among dance-major students, There was statistically significant correlation between 1)body shape satisfaction and percent body fat, visceral fat and BMI, 2)eating habits and abdominal obesity, visceral and BMI, 3)drinking and BMI. among general major students, 1)body shape satisfaction and percent body fat, abdominal obesity, visceral fat, Muscle Mass and BMI, 2)eating habits and BMI, 3)physical activity habits and muscle mass, basal metabolism. In conclusion, there were significant effect of life habits such as body shape satisfaction, eating habits and drinking habits on percent body fat, BMI, abdominal obesity or visceral fat among dance-major female students.
