Abstract
The article is devoted to the development of organic agriculture in the world and Russia. Based on a retrospective analysis, the authors determined the current state and assessed the main parameters of this market segment. A comparative analysis of the development of organic agriculture in Russia and in the world is presented in terms of the area of organic agricultural land, the number of organic producers, market capacity, sales volumes and channels, as well as the species composition of organic agricultural products. The conclusion is substantiated that the main drivers for the development of the organic products market are an increased consumer demand for relevant products, a developed government policy and a support system for the sector. It is noted that the organic production industry in Russia is at the stage of formation, while in world practice it has existed for several decades. Currently, the development of this type of agricultural production is one of the most promising areas and is a global trend. The conclusion is made about the need for an integrated approach to the development of the organic agriculture system in Russia to obtain a synergistic effect at the level of the national economic system.
