Abstract

The article analyzes recent changes in legislation affecting specially protected natural areas. The main focus is on the new law on ecotourism, which came into force in September 2023. The author explores the motives underlying the adoption of this law, as well as its impact on the legal status of protected areas. The article discusses in detail the key principles of ecotourism as a type of environmental entrepreneurship and methods of their implementation in the regulation of protected areas in order to harmonize the interests of nature conservation and sustainable development, assesses the possible impact of the new law on the development of environmentally sustainable tourism and improving the well-being of the local population.
