Abstract
The translation of a poetic text always causes disputes among translators, because, in addition to proficiency in language and professional translation competencies, a translator of poetry must have a poetic gift. It is important for a translator to choose the proper translation strategies in order to keep not only the content and sense of the poetic text, but also its rhythm, intonation, melody and cultural and aesthetic component. The aim of the study is to identify the ways of conveying cultural and aesthetic value in “The Ballad of the Salt-Water” by F. G. Lorca from Spanish into Russian. The novelty of this study lies in the fact that the translation techniques used in the translation of the work “La ballada del agua del mar” by F. G. Lorca from Spanish into Russian, which contribute to the most complete portrayal of the national peculiarities of the poetic text, have been analyzed for the first time. The analysis has shown that the lexical and grammatical transformations used by the translator allowed preserving the conceptual and aesthetic content of the original. As a result, it has been proved that the correctly chosen translation strategies combined with a poetic talent make it possible to convey the aesthetic value and national and cultural specificity of the ballad.
